Basic Forehand Stroke

  • Head close to racket as possible.
  • Racket follows path across body...stopping just below and past head.
  • Shoulders follow through and rotate after ball is struck.
  • Elbow stays close to body during swing, free arm up for balance.
  • Arm bent at elbow, wrist straight and locked.
  • Racket ready in plain of ball.
  • Ball is struck along side of body and at top of the bounce.
  • Racket tip slightly tilted forward to cover on-coming sidespin.
  • Body moving forward as ball is struck.
  • Left foot slightly forward of right.
  • Weight shift from right foot to left.
  • Knees bent and heels slightly off floor.
  • Crouched in ready position.
